The Amazon is a part of the world that covers a huge amount of land. It covers a lot of South America and extends through several countries, such as Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Suriname, and French Guiana. The Amazon is home to 1 in 10 of the known species on Earth and contains around 1.4 billion acres of rainforest. The Amazon River is one of the longest rivers in the world, but it’s also the widest. Many of the diverse species in the Amazon live in and around this river. Without the Amazon River, the Amazon would not be the thriving ecosystem that it is.
