The giant tortoise is found on two archipelagos: the Aldabra in Seychelles and the Galapagos in Ecuador. They can weigh as much as 300 kilograms and grow to be over 4 feet long. There are many subspecies of giant tortoises found on different islands and have different appearances. Those that live on larger islands with more rain will often have more dome-like shells, whereas tortoises living in drier conditions will often have "saddleback" shells and be smaller overall.
